Recently, my cousin came down from New York for a visit, and as always, we got into some deep conversation. Our chats are always rich—family, personal growth, entrepreneurship—we cover it all. There’s something special about connecting with someone who just gets you, someone who sees the world in a similar way and isn’t afraid to go there in a conversation. This time, we were talking about our careers, the ups and downs of entrepreneurship, and the things we’re working toward. In the middle of it, she said something that stuck with me: "I believe my birthright is to own real estate and have a lot of money." It made me pause. Later, I looked up the word birthright—it’s defined as a natural or moral right, something everyone is born with. I quickly said to her, "No, I don't think that having all of this stuff is our birthright...We have been dooped, bamboozled, hoodwinked into thinking this very thing. We have been taught to want these things and it keeps us tied up in a cycle and system of consumerism." I continued, "I think our true birthright is to be free—to be healthy, strong, and in a constant state of self-elevation." For me, freedom is about more than just financial gain. It’s about not being shackled by debt, societal expectations, or the need for external validation. It’s about having peace of mind, self-love, and the space to grow into our highest selves. Now, don’t get me wrong—money has its place. It can open doors, create opportunities, and provide stability. But have we been misled into believing that wealth is the destination rather than a tool? What if the real prize is something far greater? What would it look like to strive for true freedom? To dedicate ourselves to personal growth with discipline and consistency? To turn inward, strengthen our energy, and allow our best selves to emerge? I believe that when we align with our highest energy—when we move with intention and purpose—the things we seek will naturally find their way to us. Some of the goals we chase may already be within reach if we simply shift our focus inward. What do you think? What is your birthright? What do you believe truly belongs to you? I’d love to hear your thoughts—hit reply and share with me. In the meantime, check out the rest of our newsletter for this week’s happenings—our weekend lineup at Patchwork City Farms, meal prep orders, and your last chance to claim a spot for The Palate Reset Lifestyle Reboot. Much love,

CHANGING EVERYTHING...CHANGES EVERYTHING It’s hard to believe this photo of me and my bestie, Dr. Tyus, was taken almost a decade ago. What you can’t see from our backs in that picture is that I was 40 weeks pregnant — belly full, body heavy, teetering on the edge of new life. I was quite literally laboring, preparing to welcome my second child. Dr. Tyus had flown in from Washington, D.C. to be with me, not just as my best friend, but as part of a deeper, spiritual support team. Her mom came...
IT HURTS!...BUT DO DAT SH!T ANYWAY In the early part of February, life came at me fast — literally. My family and I were driving back from a weekend trip. We saw a bunch of friends that we hadn't seen in a while and felt like the trip was generally productive. Out of nowhere, a deer leapt onto the highway, with no time to swerve. The impact was loud... violent... and jarring. All the airbags deployed around us. Metal twisted, glass shattered, and just like that, our car was totaled. We sat...
WHAT HAPPENS IF ALL THE VEGGIES ARE GONE? Did you know that every time you make a purchase, you’re shaping the market? Your food choices influence what’s available, what thrives, and what disappears. Recently, I had a heartfelt conversation with a friend who is an urban farmer. We shared our excitement about offering fresh, diverse produce and products to our customers, pouring our passion into every item we grow and create. But there’s a harsh reality—when these carefully cultivated foods...
