THERE'S ALWAYS ROOM TO IMPROVE
Let me tell you a story.
An old acquaintance of mine, let’s call him Marcus—was trying to quit smoking. Every week he said, “This is it. This is the week I stop for good.” But Monday would come, and there he was, lighting up by lunchtime. The cravings were relentless. The habit felt like it was etched into his bones. He’d been smoking for over 15 years, so quitting wasn’t just about willpower—it was about rewriting his identity.
One day, after yet another “I’ll start tomorrow,” Marcus sat on his porch with a cigarette in one hand and his journal in the other. The smoke drifted up while he wrote down a single question: “What is this really about?”
That was the moment everything began to shift.
He wasn’t just addicted to nicotine. He was addicted to numbing, numbing his stress, his loneliness, his self-doubt. But the beautiful part? He didn’t shame himself. He didn’t spiral into guilt. He just… got honest. And that honesty? It became his healing.
There is always an opportunity to get better. Even when you think you’ve done all the things—tried all the routines, followed all the advice, there’s room to go deeper.
Sometimes that “room” shows up as a whisper, a nudge, a question that won’t go away. That’s where the self-audit comes in. It’s not about perfection. It’s about checking in. Telling the truth. Taking inventory.
Let me explain…
Lately, I’ve been working on drinking more water. And while I am more consistent, some days are definitely better than others. My busy schedule is usually the culprit. Sound familiar?
So I’ve been doing some deep reflection on what’s really getting in my way. Not from a place of blame, but from a place of love. I’ve even created new strategies:
- Morning deep breaths to ground myself
- Check-ins with my accountability partner
- Setting gentle, aligned intentions for the day
These little changes have made a big difference. But none of them would’ve happened if I hadn’t paused to ask myself what wasn’t working.
A self-audit is the real game changer, friend.
It’s a way to lovingly ask:
🌱 Where am I coming up short?
🌱 What feels out of alignment?
🌱 What do I really want?
Not to overwhelm you, but to remind you that you’re allowed to want more. That you deserve better.
You are the master of your time, your energy, your life.
You call the shots. You choose what stays, what goes, and what needs to shift.
Here are a few self-audit questions to gently guide you inward:
Sleep: Am I getting the recommended amount of sleep each night to feel rested and rejuvenated?
Eating Habits: Am I mindful of my food choices and eating behaviors throughout the day?
Hydration: Am I drinking an adequate amount of water daily to stay hydrated? and Do I rely on sugary beverages or caffeinated drinks instead of water for hydration?
Finances: Do I have a clear understanding of my current financial situation, including income, expenses, and savings?
Quality of Rest: Do I engage in activities that promote relaxation and reduce stress in my daily routine?
Relationships: Are my relationships supportive, nurturing, and fulfilling, or do they add stress or negativity to my life?
Let this be your nudge to check in with yourself—not with judgment, but with curiosity.
Ask the hard questions. Be willing to shift. Be willing to grow.
You are so worthy of the version of yourself that’s trying to emerge. And sometimes, it just takes a little honesty to unlock that next level of joy, peace, and alignment.
So tell me—what area of your life are you ready to improve? I’d love to hear from you. Just hit reply. I read every message.
