CHEF BEEE'S LAST FARM FRESH FRIDAY
Greetings, y’all, and Happy September! I hope your month is off to a fantastic start.
I wanted to share that this will be my last week at Farm Fresh Friday. It’s been an amazing two-year journey working alongside Farmer J. and the Patchwork City Farm team, bringing you value-added products and plant-based meals every Friday.
While Farm Fresh Friday will continue to offer locally grown produce each week, I’ll be transitioning to working out of our commercial kitchen, Leaven, on Fridays. There, you can order Grab & Go meals, drinks, and snacks directly from me. We’ll be sharing more details soon on how you can place your pre-orders.
As we head into the last quarter of the year, I’m excited about some new offerings I can’t wait to share with you.
In the meantime, if you have a chance, please stop by Farm Fresh Friday today to say hello and pick up some delicious food and produce. I hope to see you soon!

BEEE WELL RECIPE:
Bring Da Heat Pepper Sauce
Peppers don’t just bring the heat — they bring flavor, antioxidants, and versatility to your kitchen! Whether you like things mild or fiery, peppers are in season right now, and they make the perfect base for a homemade hot sauce.
✨ Did you know? The Scoville Scale measures pepper heat in Scoville Heat Units (SHU):
- Habanero: 100,000–300,000 SHU (super hot — perfect for sauces & soups)
- Tabasco: 30,000–50,000 SHU (medium heat — great for hot sauces)
- Shishitos: 50–300 SHU (mild & smoky — ideal for snacking or salads)
This recipe uses habaneros for that bold kick, but you can swap in tabasco or shishito peppers depending on your heat tolerance.
🌱 Ingredients
- 6 Tabasco peppers or (shishitos for mild)
- 3 cloves garlic, peeled
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 carrot, chopped (adds natural sweetness)
- 1 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1 tsp sugar (optional, balances the heat)
👩🏾🍳 Instructions
- Prep the peppers: Wear gloves when handling hot peppers! Remove stems (and seeds if you want less heat).
- In a saucepan, sauté onion, garlic, and carrot until softened.
- Add peppers, vinegar, salt, and sugar. Simmer 10–15 minutes.
- Cool slightly, then transfer to a blender. Add lime juice and blend until smooth.
- Pour into a glass jar and refrigerate. The flavors deepen after a day or two!
